R03 / OM55B / duty cycle ↗Continuous operation runs for 168 hours each week, or 24 hours every day. Confirm that the named model supports that duty cycle, then test restart, offline content and fault recovery.
Separate duty cycle from availability
Permission to keep a device switched on does not guarantee uninterrupted display. State when content must be available and what downtime is acceptable. An advertising screen needs a different fallback from an operational information display. Establish ownership and escalation before launch.
Document the installation
Request permitted orientation, environmental conditions and mounting clearances for the exact model. An enclosed installation may behave differently from a ventilated sample. Record the player and software version. Tie warranty terms to this use and ask about restrictions for static content.
Trigger failures deliberately
Interrupt power and networking in a controlled pilot. Check the correct image after recovery, offline content and alerts to the owner. Restarting must not put schedules in the wrong time zone. Record whether anyone had to intervene on site; this becomes a cost and availability risk.
PLANNING EXAMPLE
Planning steps and acceptance checks
A lobby must show current notices at night. The team defines tolerable downtime and visible fallback content. The pilot separately interrupts power, networking and the CMS connection. Observe image, schedule and alert. A device check is insufficient if the CMS connection needs manual repair after recovery. Link each failure to an expected outcome and an accountable person.
| Aspect | What to check |
|---|---|
| Player loses network access | Agreed offline content remains available |
| Power returns | Image, input and schedule are correct |
| Trigger a failure alert | Named owner receives it and follows escalation |
What to bring to the project discussion
| Aspect | What to check |
|---|---|
| Approval | Model, duty cycle, orientation |
| Availability | Downtime window and fallback |
| Monitoring | Alert and accountable owner |
| Service | Replacement route and spare parts |
Three concrete next steps
- Set system boundaries and downtime tolerance.
- Confirm warranty coverage for the use.
- Record power and network failure tests.
Limit of this recommendation
24/7 on a spec sheet is neither an uptime promise nor a claim about the whole network.
